Any showers becoming restricted to the north of Scotland last night, leaving a dry and clear night across the UK, with some fog patches forming by dawn. Turning cold with a widespread ground frost and a local air frost developing.
Monday 8 October—Sunday 14 October
Rain returns
Some eastern areas may start the week with the high pressure still just about in place which would give a dry and bright start here although it looks more likely that the low in the west will bring rain sweeping across much of the country.
This paves the way for an unsettled week with a mixture of rain and brighter spells as well as blustery winds.
Through the week the flow looks likely to veer to a northwesterly, feeding colder air across the country, causing the temperatures to start to drop and bringing an increasing risk of snow on Scottish mountains.
