Showery rain in the south. Drier and brighter further north.
Mostly dry in the north today, with spells of sunshine and isolated heavy showers for some. Meanwhile, bands of showery rain will spread across much of England and Wales, turning heavy with hail and thunder likely at times.

I am writing this from Lyme Regis. My first visit and a lovely seaside town with a great 2nd hand bookshop!
Awoken by a thunder and lightning and this map told me we were the only region apart from Swansea enjoying lightning.
