Today:

Rain crossing northern and central areas, heavy in places before easing except across northwest Scotland; some brighter breaks developing in eastern shelter. Southern areas mainly dry, rather cloudy but some brighter breaks. Windy for many, gusty in northeast. Very mild.

Tonight:

Heavy rain across western Scotland edging into southwest Scotland and northwest England. Lighter rain across Northern Ireland. Clearer in far north. Southeastern areas drier but rather cloudy. Very mild, windy.

Wednesday:

Heavy rain continuing for parts of northwest England and southern Scotland, perhaps affecting northwest Wales later. Showery in far north. Elsewhere mainly dry, some brighter spells. Very mild but windy.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Remaining unsettled with spells of rain and showers, these heaviest and most persistent across the west. Initially some drier, brighter and milder conditions are likely across the southeast.
