Day 3. Monthly outlook.

The BBC publish this general meteorological outlook…

Monday 2 October—Sunday 8 October
Windy start to October.

Strong winds will be the main feature of the weather at the start of this week, thanks to a deep area of low pressure positioned just to the north of Scotland. Strong to gale force winds over much of the British Isles with severe gales for a time in the North. There will also be brighter conditions and blustery showers.
The weather will quieten down for a short time during Tuesday and into Wednesday, winds will become lighter and showers will die out leaving sunny spells. This settled weather will not last for long though, with further wet and windy weather set to affect northern areas later on Wednesday, edging southwards to many areas during Thursday.
On Friday and into the weekend, a more pronounced ridge of high pressure will move across the British Isles bringing a longer period of drier weather with some sunshine and lighter winds. At the same time though the high will also bring cold nights and some mist and fog. There will be rain at times in the Northwest.
Throughout this week, daytime temperatures will be very close to normal for early October which is in the range from 12 Celsius in northern Scotland to 17 Celsius in the southeast of England.
